An audiovisual laser sculpture inspired by the groundbreaking work of Iannis Xenakis

Client – Brussels Bright Festival

HYPERFORM is an audiovisual laser sculpture inspired by the groundbreaking work of Iannis Xenakis a visionary composer, music theorist, architect, performance director, and engineer. In 1958, Xenakis collaborated with the renowned French architect Le Corbusier to design the Philips Pavilion for the Universal Exhibition in Brussels. This avant-garde structure featured hyperbolic paraboloids as its central design principle, merging architecture and mathematical elegance.

Building on Xenakis’s legacy, HYPERFORM reinterprets these principles, creating a dynamic structure composed of twelve hyperbolic paraboloids drawn entirely with light. The animated laser sculpture explores the interplay of straight lines and curves though each laser beam is a straight line, their arrangement generates an illusion of organic, curved surfaces. As the sculpture illuminates, it manipulates perception, offering a spatial and visual experience that evolves depending on the viewer’s position.

Created in collaboration with Antoine Goldschmit from Magicstreet, HYPERFORM combines innovative design and immersive audio-visual elements

The installation is accompanied by an evocative musical score composed by Brice Deloose, whose soundscape amplifies the interplay of light and space. Created in collaboration with Antoine Goldschmit, HYPERFORM combines innovative design and immersive audio-visual elements to manipulate the boundaries of geometry, light, and form.

The result is an installation that invites audiences to navigate a constantly shifting environment where light and structure merge, delivering a unique perspective from every angle. This engagement with perception transforms HYPERFORM into a multi-dimensional space of discovery, where sound, light, and architecture intertwine in an ever-evolving experience.
